Is there a weight limit?
Yes, we can safely take someone up to 226 lbs. Those over 210 lbs. it is important that they are physically fit.

You must be 18 years old. There is no maximum age limit as long as you are in good shape.

Can we jump any day?
As long as we are open and the weather is above VFR (Visual Flight Rules) and safe minimums. Clouds, rain and wind may cause some delays depending on the severity.

What if my parachute doesn’t open?
According to FAA regulation, all intentional parachute jumps must be made with a single harness, dual parachute system with both a main and a secondary, or reserve, parachute. Basically, if one doesn’t work, you have another one. The reserve parachutes are inspected and repacked every 180 days by an FAA-certified rigger whether they’ve been used or not. Student main parachutes are packed by a rigger or are packed under direct supervision of a certified rigger. In addition, all students must have an AAD which will deploy if the student fails to activate either the main or reserve parachute.

When are you open?
We are open on the weekends (Saturday and Sunday) from 10:00 till sunset.   During Daylight Savings Time, we are also open on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5:00 till sunset or until we run out of jumpers to fill the plane.

What if I am late?
Don’t be late!     If you miss a class, or if a large part of a group arrives late and we miss the opportunity to get you up that day, it is your responsibility to reschedule and come back to make the dive. We train groups at the scheduled arrival time, and some of each group will go first, others will have to wait while we get these first student skydivers up and repack our parachutes. But it is still necessary that everyone arrives on time for the scheduled training session.

Where do I go when I get there?
After parking, if you are looking at the airport hanger, walk on the left side of it and you will see a trailer at the end.   This is where you will sign up and so forth.   The training room is right beside of the trailer.

Can my friends & family come along to watch?
Be sure they understand they may be waiting around a while. Make sure that they know that there is a chance of having to reschedule your jump due to weather and such, and that skydiving is not something that can be organized on a tight schedule.

Do I get an Automatic Parachute Opener?
All our rental, student, and Tandem parachute systems are equipped with the state of the art CYPRES automatic activation device on the reserve. It is widely accepted as being the best AAD system. It will automatically open your parachute at a predetermined altitude.

What about weather?
We will not jump in unsafe weather conditions! Your best bet is to call us the day of your jump just to make sure it is ok .

Do you jump when it is cold?
Yes, we jump in the winter, but we don’t know what the temperature will be at jump altitude until we get there.
Please dress appropriately. If it is a real cold day, dress warmly. Layers of sweatshirts are better than bulky coats for example. If you have a pair of thin gloves, like batting gloves or   leather, bring them along.

Smoking & Drinking?
Please don’t smoke inside, or in any of the packing areas.    If there is a cigarette butt lying on the ground and we lay a parachute down on it, it will be expensive to repair, and you will have a lot of angry skydivers hunting you down..   So don’t do it!  Do not consume any alcoholic beverages within 8 hours prior to training.    No open alcoholic beverages until the last load of the day   is up in the air, even though you may be done jumping for the day.

How do I know you are safe?
Maytown Sport Parachute Club is a United States Parachute Association (USPA) Group Member. We follow the recommendations of the USPA. USPA is the national skydiving organization that publishes skydiving rules and recommendations.

What to wear?
A T-shirt, and tennis shoes (sneakers) work well for skydiving. No loose floppy clothing. Sandals & high heel shoes won’t do! Although ankle supporting footwear like high top tennis shoes never hurts. We prefer shoes with eyelets or something of the sort instead

Eye Glasses?
If you have glasses, we will give you over the glasses goggles for your skydive.

Contact Lenses?
We will provide you with goggles for all student jumps.   If and when you become licensed, so are expected to purchase your own gear.

What if I am under 18 years old?
Because of legal concerns, you must be 18 years or older to skydive unless you go out of the USA.    We will not let ANYONE under the age of 18 to skydive.

If I sign for my teenage child can they jump before they turn 18?
MSPC does not allow jumpers under the age of 18. All jumpers must be able to legally sign for themselves. See above question.

What if I have a fear of heights?
If you have a fear of heights, it does not apply in the same way for skydiving. You are so high, it does not look high in the same perspective as looking down from a ladder or out a high window.

Can I bring my own camera on my skydive?
Due to safety reasons, we do not allow any cameras, including GoPro cameras or other small cameras to be worn during your IAD or Tandem jumps. It could get tangled up in something, hit you or your instructor, or even worse…hit a cow on the ground…..  MSPC has professional skydivers that have experience taping and taking pictures of your jump.   Video and picture prices are explained on the page Prices.

Can I bring my Dog or Cat?
Please Don’t!    Maytown Sport Parachute Club is not a good place for pets or unattended Children. Please do not bring any type of pets including but not limited to squirrels, penguins and dinosaurs.
